2024 travel trade show, led by the distinguished delegation comprising MMC: Economic Development at

The JTC delegation engaged in a series of impactful meetings with key players in the European travel
trade, fostering collaborations and exploring innovative ways to enhance tourism offerings and elevate
the tourism industry in Johannesburg.
Joburg Tourism is excited to announce its collaboration with private and public sector
partners to champion the much-anticipated Makhelwane Festival, returning for its 9th year
from 16 -18 February 2024, at Poka Street, Orlando West, Soweto.
Celebrating the cultural richness and community spirit of Soweto, the Makhelwane Festival
offers a diverse programme, featuring a music festival, movie screenings, business talks,
food carnival, street dining, arts and crafts, a bubbly garden, and kiddies' entertainment.

Johannesburg Tourism Company (JTC) colleagues are wrapped up warm against the
London weather, promoting the City at World Travel Market (WTM) from 6 – 8 November
2023.
“JTC uses travel trade platforms as a strategic tool to generate demand for tourism to enable
market performance. Destination Marketing is essential for positioning and the promotion of
the City through various tourism platforms and activities as a leading business and lifestyle
destination,” explains Thandubuhle Mgudlwa, Johannesburg Tourism Company CEO. “Once
again we’re part of team South Africa, exhibiting on the SA Tourism platform. So far we’re
pleased to say that we have least 30 confirmed meetings with trade from Europe, Asia, US,
Africa for the three days we are at the show.”
