Joburg has of the most sophisticated transport structure on the continent, with multi-lane highways and a world-class, multiple award-wining international airport.

It has more than 9,000km of road, which is predominantly tarred and more than 300,000 commuters use the M1 highway between Joburg and Pretoria every day.

Joburg also has the most advanced highway access in South Africa, as most of the country's major national highways intersect in the southeast.

The high traffic between Joburg and Pretoria also inspired the construction of South Africa's first bullet train which runs on an 80km high-speed rail link and stops over at the main precincts between the two cities.

Joburg is furthermore connected by rail to all the main cities and ports in the entire sub-continent.
