Having given 19 years of service, 1661 babies saved from abandonment and 701 adoptions facilitated, Johannesburg’s Door of Hope Children’s Mission opened their first “Baby Box" in 1999. They also run three care facilities as well as a children’s village for children that require ongoing and long term care. Caring for around 72 abandoned babies at any one time, on average 9 abandoned babies enter Door of Hope some via the baby box, and others through hospitals and the Johannesburg police services.
