Last year, the EGF commissioned research into the extent and options of wood waste in the exhibitions industry, and we are pleased to release the findings this month. Wood waste is a challenge in our sector, and this research has, for the first time, focussed on the degree to which wood is still used, and the steps that are needed to minimise waste. I am certain that you will join us in welcoming this important bit of research.
February is Meetings Africa month, and the EGF is pleased to once again be selected to drive the greening and certification of this world-class business event. Thanks to the South African National Convention Bureau, we have been involved in the greening of Meetings Africa for some years and will now be doing the same for Africa’s Travel Indaba Show in May. Don’t forget to diarise the dates of Meetings Africa (26-27 February) and pop-in to our stand for a chat.
It is also time to hold our annual general meeting (AGM) which again coincides with Meetings Africa, on 25 February at the Sandton Convention Centre. Play your part in building a stronger and more dynamic EGF by getting involved in the AGM and even making yourself available to stand for one of the vacancies in our management committee this year. The EGF is only as strong as our membership demands, so be part of the future of this important initiative.
Other important dates to diarise are 10 and 11 July for our annual conference and master class session. Our conferences have been getting better each year, and we are in no doubt that this year all expectations will be met and exceeded by our organising committee. Watch the newsletter for more information on what we have planned.
I am very pleased to welcome our newest member to the EGF. Flock Eventing Platform brings welcome ideas and technology to our industry and we are pleased to have them on-board. We look forward to a long and beneficial association.
With the year now well and truly underway, I hope you have an exceptional, sustainable 2019 and that you find working with the EGF as rewarding as we aim to be.
